Luxury is sustainable at El Cid Resorts Riviera Maya

We are excited to share with you that on May 30, 2024 our Resorts in the Riviera Maya obtained the Earth Check Silver certification, a global recognition in environmental sustainability. After two years of effort, we have transformed the experience at our resorts to offer you a sustainable vacation in harmony with the environment.

 

In a gathering between the El Cid Resorts Riviera Maya and the Earth Check team we presented the results of our efforts to generate the minimum environmental impact. We share our exciting journey towards sustainability, which involved the study of our practices to transform them around environmental balance.

Our certification is an indicator that shows we are on the right path for achieving a sustainable environmental balance. It is encouraging to now be part of this great global community of organizations striving for a better future.

 

 

The Earth Check Silver certification recognizes the efforts to transform our resorts processes into activities with minimal environmental impact, implementing standards that meet rigorous sustainability criteria.

These criteria include:

•  Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
•  Energy efficiency
•  Water management
•  Ecosystem conservation
•  Social and cultural management
•  Territorial planning
•  Air quality
•  Wastewater management
•  Solid waste management and safe storage of harmful substances.

Criteria that we apply in the following practices:

• The installation of solar cells in all our buildings to obtain clean energy
• In the installation of water saving and collection systems
• The design and development of a successful biowaste separation program in alliance with the Crococún zoo, a refuge and sanctuary for threatened species such as deer, spider monkeys, some species of crocodile and sea turtles
• Alliances with the agricultural sector of Puerto Morelos
• And the designation of an extensive mangrove protection and conservation area

Plus we stood out out in the certification for achieving important levels on the Earth Check ranking:

Hotel Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort: Regional Leader in Waste Sent to Landfill, regional leader in waste recycling rating and above average regarding water consumption.

Hotel Ventus at Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort: Regional leader in the classification of waste recycling and the qualification of pesticide products, in addition to achieving a good ranking level in average water consumption.

Hotel Ventus Ha’ at Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort: Managed to remain above average in waste sent to landfill, greenhouse gas emissions and drinking water consumption.

 

 

Now, solar energy illuminates your experience at El Cid Riviera Maya resorts, where we dedicate all resources to the conservation of native species of flora and fauna such as sea turtles, spider monkeys and endemic birds. In addition, we support the social well-being and development of the local community, we also ensure that our activities do not generate emissions of polluting gases.
